Health and diet over time have one common
denominator - simply change. Generally speaking up to and including
the teens emphasis is on exercise, balanced diet (fruit and
vegetables) and calcium focus.
From the teens through the twenties hair, bone
and teeth come into focus. Namely fish like sardines, meat like
bacon and dairy produce for calcium, protein and vitamin D
intake.
The next few decades sees a shift towards
fertility and metabolism. Namely eating less but with increasing
selectivity. Both sexes' multivitamin & mineral intake becomes
scrutinised. For the female its folic acid and the male its B,C and
E vitamins with selenium and zinc.
Mental and physical exercise emphasis on board
games, weights and walking etc that keep the bones strong and mind
active. The focus is on oxygen circulation and one's
eyesight.
From the fifties onwards man and woman focus on
processes and practices that focus on the philosophy, "a moving
target is harder to hit". The prognosis and diagnosis terms take on
heightened awareness - like cancer and general life cycle realities
- hence health check intervals are shortened.
Some foods like, Carotenoid rich Fruits and
Vegetables (apricots, carrots and tomatoes for example), Chives,
Citrus Fruit (lemons, oranges and tangerines for example),
Cruciferous Vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower and sprouts for
example), Garlic, Herbs and Spices (basil, mint and oregano for
example), Leeks, Mushrooms, Onions, Shallots and Turmeric, may aid
the philosophy "prevention is better than cure" concerning
cancer.
Nutrition refinement to specific conditions with
the emphasis on prevention than cure predominates. Consider
Calcium, zeaxanthin, lutein and the Mediterranean diet. The means,
lean and clean approach to longevity. The focus on satisfaction,
happiness and contentment.
The choice is yours.
